The Station of the Future: City Station or Station City? | An Architectural Analysis on the Relation

The construction of the high-speed railway station in West Kowloon is questioned for years about the necessity of the train station and whether it would assist the development in Hong Kong. In order to answer the questions, comparison on precedents would be necessary. Europe has a well-developed and all-rounded railway system in connecting the cities. Although the context is different, the method of countries and cities communicating and bonding through railway is similar to the Hong Kong situation. Through my experience in travelling in Europe by train and observing the train stations and the cities, this research is to analyze the relationship between a train station and a city from the architectural perspective.
