Rotterdam Central Station | Building Scale

The Rotterdam Central Station is newly constructed in 2014, whilst indicating Rotterdam has the potential in developing into a major city. The program organisation is simple, yet with different spatial quality to emphasis the use of each space. The massings are indicating the different programs and the sequence of circulation. The building is cladded with the same material, which cleverly integrates the massings into one building. The relatively large scale of the building is a form of depiction of power; as ones to approach from the train or from the plaza, the two spatial quality is providing an enormous and powerful impact, which depicts the image of the city as a new technological development.
